About Pogi the Artist

Pogi the Artist is a multidisciplinary artist, originally from Bermuda. They moved to Toronto to further their education and artistic journey, graduating from OCAD University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting. In 2020, Pogi was a part of a SKETCH Indie Studio (winter 2020) residency for Black emerging artists, hosted at Toronto's Artscape Youngplace. Their experience with art started in high school after coming out of the closet, where art became one of their outlets and the art room was their safe haven. Mostly drawing in charcoal and pastels to mimic graffiti style paintings, tags, and spray paint strokes. The more time Pogi spent in the art room, the more they developed their skills with acrylic paints and surrealism. After graduating and moving on to college, Pogi was introduced to more art movements and styles, that helped to develop their own. Starting their conceptual art journey, and the birth of "My Brick Walls".
